Town of Double Oak Welcomes Community to 2007 September 11th Ceremony, Remembrance, Reflection, Recommitment.
Double Oak, Texas The Town of Double Oak will host the ceremony, Remembrance, Reflection and Recommitment to our country, in honor of the tragedies that occurred on September 11, 2001. The ceremony will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2007, on the Double Oak Town Square, between Town Hall and the Town Fire Station, beginning at 7 p.m. Parking is in front of Town Hall, the Fire Station and, typically, in the northwest parking lot of the Downing Middle School. Mayor Pamela A. King will preside. The ceremony will include a Boy Scout Color Guard, which will post the colors, followed by the Mayors welcome and opening remarks. Several members of Crossroads Bible Church will join the program to sing Amazing Grace and America the Beautiful. The Hebron High School Choir has been invited to sing, as well. Members of both the Double Oak Police Department and Volunteer Fire Department will lead prayers, as will Pastor Bill Lee, of Crossroads Bible Church. The Scouts will be asked to lead those gathered in the Pledge of Allegiance. We will be remembering and honoring the earth-shattering events of September 11, 2001, in the evening this year, to enable more neighbors to attend, said Mayor King. We owe it to ourselves and one another to remember reflect and recommit our allegiance to the United States of America, as one nation under God.
