Dear Parent/Guardian, I would like to take this time to say hello and introduce myself to you and your

child. My name is Mr. Iggins, and I have the great fortune of teaching mathematics at St. Monica Catholic High School this school year. This is my second year at St. Monicas, and I am eager and excited to begin working with your child. I wanted to introduce myself and let you know what some of my beliefs and expectations are for class this year. First, I want to address my presence in the classroom and how it relates to your child in particular. This is a college preparatory high school and thus will resemble a college type course in its expectations for your child. Your child will receive the utmost respect from me during our interactions throughout the school year. On a daily basis, I will treat them fairly and expect a great deal out of them. I hope, in return, you hold me to the high standard you hold any teacher who interacts with your child. I believe helping the next generation learn and grow is a responsibility of immense importance, as we strive to educate the youth of today so that they can prosper as the leaders of tomorrow. I strongly believe you play a vital part in this mission and hope you see me as a partner and resource. Transparency in a classroom is what helps the education system continually improve, and I welcome any of your questions or comments throughout the school year. Next, I understand and am aware of the stigma that is associated with mathematics. Mathematics is a challenging subject for many students, and in high school, can even be so for students who have had past success in mathematics. As such, I ask for your help in supporting your child through the difficulties mathematics presents. If you notice your child is struggling, please feel free to contact me or send them in for tutoring. I believe wholeheartedly that every child can succeed in mathematics, and with your help, I believe we can make that belief a reality. In closing, I want to thank you for your patience and support this year. Education is the most valuable asset in our community, and I will strive to maintain the standard that all the teachers at St. Monica Catholic High School uphold. If you ever have questions or comments, I welcome them and have provided my email address below. Also, feel free to setup a time before or after school to come in and talk to me about your child. I thank you and look forward to a fantastic school year! Very Sincerely,
