c.OpentheWorddocumentandimmediatelysaveitasadifferentname,preferablyonerelatedtothe

graphyouareabouttocreate.

UsingMicrosoftWordtoCreateaLineGraph: 1a.TomakeagraphinMicrosoftWord,bringuptheblankplotgraphyoudownloaded.

1b.UsingtheRibbonatthetopofWord2007,selectInsert,Shapes,andchoosetheLineoption.

1c.InordertodemonstratehowtoplotalineonagraphbyusingWord2007,theseinstructionswilluse thefollowingexample: Graphtheequationofalinewithm= ,andcontainingthepoint(1,3). 1d.First,locatethestartingcoordinatesforthelineyouareplotting,e.g.(1,3).

1e.Afterclickingthelineicon,leftclickonthecorrectpointand,whileholdingdowntheleftmouse button,counttheriseandrunofthelineyouareplotting(e.g.2unitsupand3unitstotheright).

1f.Onceyouhavecountedouttheriseandrunoftheline,hoveryourmouseoverthecorrectpoint,and releasetheleftmousebutton.Yourgraphshouldnowlooklikethefollowingexample:

1g.Ratherthanaddingadditionallinestoincreasethelineyouplotted,youwillextendthelineusingthe shiftkey.Inordertoextendtheline,clickontheline,andtwogreendotsshouldappear

,oneateachend. 1h.Clickononeofthegreendotsontheline,andwhileholdingdowntheshiftbutton,extendtheline inthesamedirectionasyouoriginallyplotted,i.e.makethelinecovermoreoftheplotgraph,by

draggingyourmouseawayfromthegreendot.

Releaseyourmousebutton,andrepeatthisactionfortheothergreendotontheline.Now,yourgraph

1i.Nowthatyourlinegraphisfinished,doublecheckthatyourlinegoesthroughtheinitialpointyou plotted,e.g.(1,3),andthatthelinehasthecorrectriseandrun.
