ISO 27001:2005 is part of the family of standards developed between ISO and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) to inform information security management systems. Khayyat explains: This one is for the IT department, because we consider our clients information to be of the utmost importance to ensure that there are no leakages and that it is all secured. Now that we have this certificate the issue of data security should be of no concern to any client. According to Walid Kharbat, UCCs quality manager and management representative, the process of accreditation is being supported by the entire management, including the managing director, Ramez Khayyat, as well as the deputy managing director, the COO and each of the heads of the departments. I can tell that we are improving our quality system changes are being made on a daily basis but it is also our job to make sure we always maintain the highest standards across all sectors of our business, he emphasises. Ramez Khayyat, sums: When UCC announced its ISO 9000 certification, we always said this was just the beginning. We must aspire to ever higher standards and best practice in all aspects of our work.
