Players. 1.

Game is played with 7 players unless only 4 players are available from their team or each team has the same amount of players up to 10. Example: If only 4 players are available the game will be 4 on 7. 2. A minimum of 4 players are needed to start and play a game. Teams may play if they choose, but it remains a forfeit for the late team regardless of the score. 3. Rosters may have 10 participants. 7 players and 3 Subs. 4. Teams are encouraged to have both genders on the court at all times in Co-Ed Games. 5. Subs may come in on the defensive side of the floor only after their teammate has exited the playing area on the defensive side. Rules of Play. 1. Player Options: Entering Opposition Territory (Choose one option only) A. Save a teammate - Players may save a teammate by tagging them before their flag is pulled. Both players must walk back to their home side. B. Capture a Cone and attempt to return to Home Side C. Enter a safe Zone 2. Game Play Options FLAGS- Flags must be worn properly. (Over shirt/No Tying of Flag) A. Tied flags result in automatic ejection. B. One flag on each hip and one in back. If improper flags player will receive a warning and must fix flags out of bounds. Penalty for improper flags will be loss of cone. C. Flags that are pulled or fall off in opposition territory cannot be put on until safe return to home side. D. Player will stand until saved by teammate. E. If player is carrying a cone they must drop the cone in area where flag is pulled. Thrown cones are automatically returned to side where cone came from with an additional cone penalty. F. Guarding: Flags cannot be guarded or held to prevent being pulled. Cone area cannot be guarded from inside the box. ONE HAND TOUCH- Game is played in same manner using one hand touch as the method to tag a member of the opposite team. 3. FIELD OF PLAY A. Safe Zones: May have more than one opposition player in it. Players may NOT have a cone in the safe zone. B. Cone Areas: May have only one opposition player in it. To be a cone area there must be a cone in the box. IF two opposition players are in cone area both players are considered live and may have flags pulled. Defenders are not allowed in their cone area. Defenders must defend from outside of cone area. C. Out of Bounds: Participants who go out of bounds in opposition territory are considered down at that spot. D. If a player hits the ground they are down if this happens in opposition territory. 4. If player is holding a cone there is no safe area in opposition territory. 5. Only one cone may be held at any time during play. (Offensive or Defensive) Playing time. 1. Games will consist of (3) three minute games. 2. Teams who have captured all the cones or have the most cones after 3 minutes will be declared the winner of that game. 3. TIES: There are no ties. If an individual game is tied the previous game winner will be considered the overall winner. If the tie occurs on the first or first and second game the next game winner will determine the match winner 4. NO PASSES WILL BE WRITTEN FOR TARDIES 5. Games will be played 1st and 2nd break.

Captains Duties. 1. Team captain acts as a spokesperson during the game. Only the team captain is allowed to speak supervising IM Coordinator regarding game play. 2. Team captain is responsible for conduct of all its players and spectators. This includes conduct related to sportsmanship and respect for school property. (ie trash, equipment usage, etc.) Supervising IM Coordinator may remove players or spectators if necessary. 3. Knowing and understanding all rules. Inform team of league rules and equipment policies. 4. Keep rosters updated. Add/Drops allowed until 1st game only. None during season. 5. At least 4 participants must be on their designated court/field no later than 7 minutes into nutrition break. If team does not have the minimum required amount of players (4) the game is considered a FORFEIT! 6. Two forfeits will result in a team losing the right to compete in the playoffs. Three forfeits will result in a team being dropped from the league. 7. Captains are responsible for setting up their field of play and retrieving/returning their teams flags. 5 Total Cones per side. 5 Cones in each Cone Area to start game. Equipment. 1. Each player must wear athletic shoes. 2. Teams should wear shirts of the same color if at all possible. 3. Jewelry, chains, rings, or earrings that could interfere (IM Coordinators opinion) may NOT be worn. Player Conduct. 1. No Swearing will be allowed. A warning will be given for the first offense (team warning). Second offense will be unsportsmanlike conduct which will result in loss of point and ejection from match. 2. Fighting by any player or team will result in automatic ejection from the IM Program and will result in referral to SSO. 3. Taunting of opposing players will result in automatic ejection. 4. BEHAVIOR VIOLATIONS: Participants who cause the following to occur must see Coach Genung prior to participating in any other IM Activities. Participants found to have violated the following without reporting to Coach Genung will cause their team to forfeit any IM Activity in which they were involved. Students who receive a suspension, referral or negative report from a teacher or administrator will be on probation for one week and cannot participate in IM games or activities. Students who receive a suspension, referral or negative report twice in the same semester cannot participate in IM sports for that semester but are eligible to re-apply for second semester activities. Ejection from IM Activity IM SPORT COORDINATORS RIGHTS 1. They have the right to eject a player or players from a game. If a player has been ejected they must see Coach Genung before being eligible to play in any other IM Activity for the school year. 2. They have the authority to end a game at any point if contestants cannot control their teams and/or spectators. 3. They have the final say. Any rule interpretation or dispute must take place between the team captain and the supervising IM Coordinator. IM HONOR CODE All students (IM participants/Spectators) are subject to NVHS rules. In addition, IM participants who are found to be in violation of NVHS rules either through direct or indirect involvement with a group are subject to dismissal from the IM program and will no longer be allowed in the athletic wing during break. (This decision is at the discretion of the IM Coordinator on Duty!) IM Participants are expected to demonstrate their Panther Pride at all times by being respectful and courteous towards fellow students and teachers!
