Classroom Expectations and Behavior

Remediation: Students are expected to keep up with the pace of the class by putting forth their best effort on each assignment and staying on task. Struggling students may arrange after school tutorial with the teacher. (See listed tutorial days and hours.) Academic Honesty: Cheating of any kind will not be tolerated. Receiving or giving unlawful information to complete an assignment is cheating. Students who copy anothers work OR allows their work to be copied will not receive credit or be given an opportunity to make-up the assignment and may be referred to administration. Passes: Students are encouraged to use the transitional time between classes for restroom breaks instead of socializing. Students will be given three (3) passes to use for the entire nine (9) week session. Re-Do Policy: Students will have an opportunity to redo any quarterly work that is graded as a D (69) or below. If a student chooses to take advantage of the redo policy, it must be re-submitted within one (1) week of the returned graded assignment. (This policy does not apply to class work that must be submitted during my absence when a substitute is present.) Office Procedures/Employability Skills: Employability skills are those traits that are looked upon favorably by an employer: positive attitude, teamwork, good work habits, etc. The Business Technology program will help you develop these traits so that you will be better prepared for high school, college and/or a career. Therefore, a percentage of your grade will be based on productivity/employability skills. Each week you have the opportunity to receive 20 points. Listed below are reasons why you will not receive your full 20 points. Unexcused Tardy Unprepared for Work Off Task Not Cleaning Up Workstation Inappropriate Behavior Includes eating/drinking or gum chewing during class, chair rolling, excessive socialization, disruptive behavior and inappropriate language Leaving class without permission Being asked to leave class by teacher due to behavior Misuse of the computer

Classroom Expectations: Students will be responsible for the following: 1. Show respect towards teacher, classmates, and equipment. 2. Be on time for class. 3. Attend class regularly. 4. Conduct yourself in a business-like manner. No horseplay, food, gum, drinks, excessive talking, or rolling in chairs. 5. Turn in only your own work. 6. Use computers ethically at all times. 7. Be prepared to participate in class. 8. Keep the room and your computer station neat and tidy. 9. Report any computer problems to the teacher immediately. 10. Adhere to the Code of Student Conduct. Business and Technology Department Acceptable Use Policy


As a student of Orange County Public School, I understand that: 1. I will not turn off/on, re-boot, or manipulate computers in the computer lab without the expressed direction and observation of the instructor. 2. I will not attempt to access or use other students passwords, user drives, files or diskettes. Also, I will not share my password with other students. 3. I will not copy software or attempt to use personal programs/software in the computer lab. 4. I will not download ANY files from the Internet, including music, videos, executable files, etc. without the expressed permission of the instructor. 5. I will not waste computer resources such as paper, ink, or disk space. 6. I will not attempt to unplug or disengage or change any settings in the computers located in the computer lab. 7. I will use only the software (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, KCA, Multimedia, etc.) which has been assigned. 8. I will not access the Internet unless I have Internet approval and have been given expressed permission by the instructor. 9. I will access only school-appropriate sites on the Internet.

10. I will log in to the school network with my student ID and password anytime I use a school computer. 11. I understand that absolutely no food, snacks, gum or drinks are allowed near the computers at any time. 12. My parents/guardians and I may be held accountable for any destruction in my area. Any destruction must be reported to the instructor immediately. 13. All rules stated in the OCPS student code of conduct applies to this class. Finally, I understand that if I am found to be in violation of any policies listed above, I will abide by the following consequences. Tampering 1st Offense Referral to the Grade Level Office, and Parental Contact 2nd Offense - Referral to the Grade Level Office, Parental Conference, and Organized Learning 3rd Offense - Referral to the Grade Level Office, Parental Conference, and School Suspension Inappropriate Internet Use 1st Offense Referral to Grade Level Office, loss of Internet use for 1 day, and parental contact 2nd Offense - Referral to Grade Level Office, loss of Internet use for 2 weeks, and parental contact 3rd Offense - Removal from class, parental contact, possible loss of credit, and loss of school-wide Internet use for the year

Depending on the offense, these consequences may increase in severity.
