Team F
Student, Parent, & Guardian Compact
SY13-14
The following is a list of the general responsibilities for all Team F students, parents, and guardians. This compact follows school policy regarding consequences for misbehavior according to the Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Junior High School (AHGHJHS) handbook.

Student Responsibilities
1.) Come to school ready and willing to learn.
Students should always bring their class materials unless they have been instructed not to do so by their teachers. As school policy states, all AHGHJHS students are expected to wear the school uniform shirts. Furthermore, students should follow teachers instructions and fully participate in class activities.

2.) Dispose of chewing gum in the trashcan before class.

Absolutely no chewing gum in the classroom, because it can be a source of distraction (by popping), and they can also be a nuisance when it and its wrappers are not disposed of properly.

3.) No food or drinks, except water, in the classroom

In order to maintain a clean learning environment, students are not allowed to eat food, nor drink anything else other than water in the class. A possible exception is with the teachers permission during class parties or other events.

4.) Put away hats, sun glasses, and electronic devices (ex. iPod, cell phone)
Students are not allowed to wear hats and sun glasses in class. Bandanas are not allowed in school. Electronic devices such as cell phones, MP3 players, iPod, video games, and other devices are against school policy and are not permitted in the classroom. Violation of this rule may result in confiscation of the item(s) by the teacher. Instead of using a cell phone, students may use the phones in the classroom or the office to contact parents.

5.) Use laptops appropriately

Students are required to bring their laptops every day to class, unless instructed not to do so by the teacher. In addition, students are to use their laptops in class only when directed by the teacher. While laptops are in use, students will not use it to bully or disrespect others, gain inappropriate materials, play games, or watch movies. The teacher may allow students to listen to appropriate music while working in class.

6.) Respect yourself, others, and school property

To ensure that the classroom is a safe learning environment, all students are expected treat themselves, others, and school property with respect. For example, do not write on yourself, bully or use foul/abusive language on others, and damage/vandalize (write or mark) any property.

7.) Make Every Day the Best

As our school motto states, We Make Every Day the Best, all students are expected to perform and behave their best in school every day. By doing so, all students will be safe and will successfully advance to the next level.

Aside from these, students should follow school polices (such the compliance of the using school uniform shirts) and additional rules or expectations in some classrooms. Failure to do so will violate this compact. The following are consequences for violating this compact.

(Teacher Documentation: Time, Date, and Inappropriate Behavior) 2nd Offense: Individualized Teacher Consequence Teacher gives student a class consequence as a result of his/her inappropriate behavior. For example, clean the classroom, loss of computer time, class privileges taken away, etc. (Teacher Documentation: Time, Date, Inappropriate Behavior, and given consequence) 3rd Offense: Contact Parent(s)/Guardian(s) Place phone call to parent and advise them of students inappropriate behavior and ask for suggestions on how to improve students behavior. Students who commit offenses will not participate in team or class incentives such as field trip, party, etc.

Parent & Guardian Responsibilities

1.)Ensure that your child is prepared for school
Please provide your child: required materials for each class monitoring for appropriate clothing meal card or money for breakfast and lunch

2.)Ensure that your child gets enough rest for school

Students should get at least 8 hours of sleep. Parents should check and ensure that students do not stay up late especially to play games, watch movies, or go online.

3.)Check your childs school work

Check if your child has assignments to do such as reading library books, homework, projects, or studying.

4.)Obtain Midprogress and/or End of the Quarter Reports

Unless students are instructed to bring home grade reports, parents and guardians are expected to pick up the grade reports and meet with their childs teachers/counselors. If you are not available to get the grade report, please designate an adult relative and a authorization letter in order for them to get the grade reports on your behalf.

5.)Attend Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) meetings

Once a month, we will have a PTSA meeting at the school cafeteria from 6 pm to 7 pm. This meeting is ideal for learning what is currently happening in the school, as well as sharing your concerns and suggestions to better it. Some teachers will be giving extra credit points to students for attending this meeting with their parents.

6.)Communicate with the teachers, counselor, and school administration when

needed
We need to work collaboratively to ensure that your child will be successful. If you have any questions or concerns, please communicate first with the teachers, who may then refer you to the counselor, or school administration if needed. If you need to contact or see a teacher, please do so after school to prevent interruption of classroom instruction.

7.) Encourage your child

All parents and guardians are expected to encourage their child to do their best and behave appropriately in school. Praise your child when they show academic progress or excellence.
