June 10th 2013 Dear Student, RE: UWI VACATION EMPLOYMENT Further to your application for vacation employment the department of Student Advisory Services would like to provide you with the following update. Firstly, it is important to note that the number of applications received, (approximately 1800), far exceeds the amount of jobs available. In addition, even though we have been receiving some requests for vacation employment (both on and off campus), in most cases the employer requires a student from a particular faculty, a particular year and sometimes a particular area. When the suitable applicants are selected from our database, the students information is then forwarded to the employer for their selection. Please note that the department of Student Advisory Services has no authority over which students are eventually selected. Even though we do try our very best to provide every student with an opportunity, we are limited by the small amount of requests received from employers. We would like to encourage you, however, to keep all of your other options/opportunities (including individual searches and using the vacation employment booklet available at our front office) open; but rest assured that we will continue to try our very best to find you vacation employment.
