No extreme mania just regular mood with depression Must have at least one episode of hypomania Has tried several anti-depressants Recurrent bouts of major depression with episodic occurences of hypomania Never experience full blown mania Cyclothymic Disorder: mood swings that last 2 years. Numerous depressed episodes and does not meet the severity of type 1 or 2 Chronic ups and downs but not extreme

Differences between Bi-Polar and ADHD: Bi-Polar: ADHD: Euphoric No Mood Reduced need for sleep Sleep only affected by stimulants Destructive, rage, aggression, self-injury On the go, hyper but not desctructive Some Lithium Notes: Do not alter sodium intake Increase liquid intake Do not give with diuretic S/E: kidneys, thyroid and heart problems Always get lithium levels Know levels of toxicity: o 0.6-1.2 up to 3.5 o Above 3.5 definitely toxic in any situation Blurred Vision Fever
