Happy Fishing Lab-Tragedy of the Commons Questions:

1.

Did anyone in your group take too many fish? How did that make you feel? Did everyone try to take as many as possible? why or why not? Does society reward those with the "most"? No we all got pretty much the same even amount, but we took all of the fishes which therefore didnt leave any for next season to reproduce.

2.

Did anyone sacrifice the # of fish, for the good of the community? Why or why not? Does society ever reward that type of person? Paul tried to sacrifice fish so they can reproduce but then another person caught those fishes because they thought he was foolish and so we ended up with no fish either way. And yes society does reward them.

3.

In Game two...How did your strategy change, if at all? Does it make a difference to know what the rewards are? We didnt get to do a second game, but if we did then my strategy wouldve changed and we all shouldve taken just the amount of fish we needed to fish next season.

4.

Is it possible to maximize the number of fish caught /person AND the number of fish remaining in the pond at the same time? Why or Why not? Yes we can make an equal balance of how many fishes we take out and how many we leave behind for next the time.

5.

What are some natural resources that are common resources? The fishing poles and spoons.

6.

What are the global commons? are these being used wisely? Why or why not? Water fishing poles and nets, yes and no at the same time because some people misuse things and become greedy and overfish.

7.

What can people do to use these resources most wisely? They need to stop taking advantage and being greedy. Every fisher should all take out the same amount and leave enough fishes behind so the population doesnt become extinct

8.

Did a particular "type" of fish disappear faster than others? How does this relate to "economically valuable" species in nature and their extinction rates? No because everyone was in such a rush to just get any fish they could. But I did notice the yellow fish witcth was worth more money disappeared faster than the rest. This relates to economically valuable species in nature because there are people that try to hunt down for just those animals because they are worth more and people become greedy and soon that population becomes extinct.
