Parliaments authority doesnt count in the
colonies b/c the colonies were too far away to be rightfully governed by Parliament. The colonies are self-governed and they elect their own representatives and make their own laws through their own assemblies, not through Parliament.
...since the settlement would not be made in the agreed-upon Virginia territory, they [strangers] would use their own liberty; for none had power to command them...." (Bradford 1898).
