Cause of the Revolution Flow Chart

French and Indian War

Also known as The Seven Year War. English and its colonies and some from the Iroquois Confed. vs France and New France (Canada/ Quebec). Fought for control in the Ohio Valley A line set by the official by Parliament so that the colonists may not settle and interfere with the Native Americans and their hostility towards any settler. (1764) A tariff that the English put on only for the colonists to profit further from their agriculture and business. English used this to pay off war debts.

How it led to the American Revolution. The colonists felt empowered by their success in their militia, and that confidence soon served as a important factor that led to the revolution.

1763

Proclamation of 1763

Sugar Act

Post war land was free for the taking for the colonists, but the proclamation said otherwise, though for better political relations for Natives. Americans are angry at the UK for restricting their growth of the colonies and they feel overly controlled by the English. A slow build up of anger and bitterness grew across the American colonies toward to British. Open street protest began and mob like activity initiated.

How it led to the American Revolution. The Americans were angered by the English by imposing a unreasonable tax for stamped and printed goods.

Stamp Act

(1765) Prime Minister G. Grenville imposed a gruesome tariff that required Americans to pay for the military support in the colonies. Imposed in 1765

E) All colonists who wanted to buy a officially printed product must also pay a mandatory tax. P) A Stamp Act congress is establishes to discuss the unjust tariff S) The colonists forced repeal on the tariff. E) The colonists lost money to pay for the living expenses for the soldiers forcefully living in the homes of the colonists. Quartering Act

(1765)The law that states that colonists must give British soldiers living quarters and foodstuffs if they request during the French and Indian War.

E) English paid soldiers depended on the colonists for living solutions, and so England does not need to pay for lodging. P) They continue to exercise their power over the colonies S) British soldiers and officers felt superior towards the colonial officers.

More and more tariffs and taxes and laws passed and they anger the colonies, especially in New England. This simmers towards the revolution

Declaratory Act

(1766) A statement passed that stated that the Parliament may bind off the colonies and is in total control in the Americas.

E) Absolute control over the colonies led to some economical setbacks, since this was made simultaneously with the repeal of the Stamp Act. P) Nothing in particular S) The people desired for a measure of sovereignty on their own, instead of the unjustifiable English Parliament.

All the following event and acts set by the English set a route to imminent confrontation. The Colonys society developed small groups of people revolting the English Govt. The King George statue was melted and used to make bullets that shot Redcoats. How it led to the American Revolution. More and more Americans became patriots and set off in to resenting the UK. Less and less people in the colonies purchased English Goods.

Townshend Duties

(1767) A tax set by Champagne Charlie Townshend of England that declares taxes on imported glass, lead, paper, paint and tea. On 5th of Mach, 1770, English soldiers opened fire towards a mob in Boston. An 11 year old boy in mind that had been shot and died was the cause of the riot.

Boston Massacre

E) Nothing in particular P) On trial, the English AND the Colonists were charged in some way, but 2 redcoats were found guilty of treason. S) The Americans jeered at the English for another legitimate reason.

Americans died from an event that the English started and colonists saw this as something that annotated resentment from the English. Tension continues to build with dead Americans in an open riot.

Tea Act

(1773) A tax on tea was passed by the English government to have save the tea revenue from the unsold tea in the colonies. On the 16th of December, Bostonians dumped tea crates and barrels in the bay to demonstrate intolerance towards the Tea Act. Description

Boston Tea Party

E) Nothing in particular P) Nothing in particular S) The colonists saw this as a trickery to sell cheaper tea with a tax to make money off of them. This led to the Boston Tea Party, where tea was dumped in to the Massachusetts Bay with the message that English tea taxes will not be tolerated.

More patriots were made and their fighting spirit gave the colonists a sense of confidence and rebellion.

Battles of Lexington and Concord

The first battle of the Revolutionary War of America. This was the first declared war for the Americans to fight against the UK. C.A lose.
