How to find probability?


The probability that A will be alive after 10 years to come is 5/7 and for B is 7/9. Find out the probability that: 1) Both of them will die. 2) A will be alive and B dead. 3) B will be alive and A dead. 4) Both of them will be alive in 10 years to come. detail answer please.

1. P(A die) x P(B die) 2/7 x 2/9 = 14/ 63 2. P(A alive) x P(B dead) 5/7 x 2/9 = 10/63 3. P(B alive) x P(A dead) 7/9 x 2/7= 14/63 4. P(A) x P(B) 5/7 x 7/9 = 35/ 63

If you see the word AND, multiply. If you see the word OR, add. For example, on number for read it as...The probablity that A is alive AND the probability that B is alive. Also, P(A) means probability of A, but you probably already know that! :)
