GREEK MYTHOLOGY PICTURE BOOK AND STORY-TELLING PROJECT

Part 1: Picture Book Steps: DAY ONE IN-CLASS: 1. Choose a myth that no one else in your class has picked, either from the books provided or online. Bring your choice to the teacher to record. 2. Re-write the myth in an easy to understand form on a piece of paper. HOMEWORK FOR DAY ONE Due Monday: 3. Create a story board: What will go on each of the pages in your story? 8 page minimum DAY TWO IN-CLASS (Only in class if time allows): 4. Create your picture book (Guidelines on Rubric Provided) HOMEWORK FOR DAY TWO Due Friday: 5. Finish creating Picture Book, Collected at storytelling on Friday, Sept. 27th 6. BEGIN PRACTICING YOUR storytelling AS SOON AS POSSIBLE: Presentations on Friday, Sept. 27th

Part 2: Storytelling Now that you know your story pretty well, it is time to practice the art of storytelling. Most Greek myths were told as oral histories by Rhapsodies. We will have an in-class bonfire (fireless of course) in which you will share your stories, just as the ancient Greeks did thousands of years ago. Presentations on Friday, Sept. 27th : Be prepared to present your story to the class. You will be judged on how well you remember your story, eye contact, a loud and clear voice, and animation (acting/ trying to make the story interesting) Guidelines can be found on the rubric provided.
