Migrant Woman on a Melbourne Tram Stanza one Stanza one discusses a migrant woman on a tram. It is in the present tense.

The women is describes as impossibly black which could mean the that she is wearing a hijab and signifying the she is mourning. Among her in the tram are people wearing non modest clothing with is being impudent, disregarding her culture. There are voices on the tram with she cannot seem to comprehend. It is people speaking in English but because of her language barrier she cannot understand. "Where
voices not understood" is the giveaway that this place is foreign as she cannot understand the language that is being spoken. This is reinforced by the "address, destination ... Clue to the labyrinth"
