Next Week
Spelling: We will begin Word Study on Monday. Reading: Students will have a quiz on Wreck of the Zephyr on Monday. They have been told to re -read the story and study vocabulary from this story over the weekend. As a whole class, we will begin reading The Talking Eggs from our reading book. Next week we will also be starting the to launch Daily 5 incorporating CAF strategies. *Reminder: Students are required to earn 15 AR points for the first card marking. Math: We are currently working on Chapter 1: Place Value. We will have a Chatper 1 Test on WEDNESDAY. *Reminder: We are starting Accelerated Math on Monday. Students are required to turn in 2 passing math scans (70% or higher) every Friday. Failure to do so will result in a missing assignment and a loss of Fun Friday. Science: This upcoming week we will be learning the parts of a cell. Students will be constructing 2 model cells using food itemsone plant and one animal cell this week. We will have a Cells Quiz on Friday. Social Studies: We will be starting Chapter 2 The Earliest Americans this week. Early American Indian Life in the Americas will be the focus of Chapter 2 and our unit. In groups, students will be creating totem poles to mock the Native American totem poles from the past. Students also have a Map project #2 due on Monday, September 23. They will receive this project on Monday, September 16. Language Arts: Students will be starting Unit 1 grammar lessons focusing on complete/incomplete sentences, subjects and predicates and the 4 kinds of sentences. Writing: We are currently working on our Writers Workshop Unit for Personal Narratives! Stay tuned for an interesting narrative piece from your child.
