Constellation Project

Hercules, the Hero Have you ever seen a man in the sky with very large muscles? Well, in the time of the Greek gods there was a young man named Hercules, the son of Zeus and Alcmene. Hercules was very strong and was the favorite child of Zeus. Hera, one of Zeus wives was very jealous of Hercules. (Fact: Zeus had 115 wives.) Hercules was partially immortal because his mother was mortal and his father was immortal. Hera could not kill him but was able to make his life very difficult. To start with, Hera made Hercules temporarily insane. While insane, Hercules killed his wife and kids. In Greece, a person had to be punished if they murdered someone. Hercules had to face the twelve impossible tasks to become a free man again. Some of his impossible tasks were killing the Hydra, capturing the belt of Hippolyte, and finding the lost Golden Fleece. Completing all the difficult tasks, Hercules became a hero saving many towns from terrible creatures. All in all, Hercules got put up in the sky because of Hera trying to make him suffer.
