hension and vocab quiz on the story will be on Friday, October 4. Math: Chapter 2: Decimals test is on Monday, September 30. We have reviewed for 2 days in class. Please encourage students to study at home as well. Reminder: 2 AM scans 70% or higher are due every Friday. Science: We just began our Heredity unit first discussing acquired and inherited traits! Keep an eye out for some fun activities we will be doing! Social Studies: We have reviewed for our Chapter 2: The Early Americans unit for 2 days. Please encourage your child to study at home. They have been given several materials to study from as well as their Social Studies textbook. Their test will be on Monday, Sept 30. Language Arts: We will be reviewing and wrapping Unit 1 and reviewing this week. Please review the following with your child to reinforce: complete sentences, the 4 types of sentences, subjects/ predicates, simple subjects/simple predicates, compound subjects/ compound predicates, compound sentences and sentence fragments.

Week of 9/30
Spelling: Students study their Word Sort lists every day at school and should also at home by doing practice sorts. They are given 2 copies of their word list every Monday. One to keep at home and one to keep at school. WORD STUDY TESTS ARE EVERY FRIDAY. Reading: We have been making much progress during Daily 5 Read to Self and Read to Someone! Weekly Newsletters:
I have made a classroom website. It is: www.misssoranno.weebly.com. In our schools going green effort, I will no longer be sending home a hard copy of the newsletter in Friday Folders. This will be the last one you receive in the Friday Folder. From now on, you can view the newsletter on my website listed above under the Weekly Newsletters tab at the very top of the website. You can simply view the newsletter from the site or print it out at your leisure. You can access the website from a smart phone, tablet, or computer. There is also TONS of info on this website that may be helpful to either you or your child. Check it out and let me know what you think or leave any suggestions you have on the Classroom Blog tab. When the website is fully finished, and as I start to feel more comfortable with it, I will have students blog on the site and make it more interactive and conducive to our classroom learning.
