Despite its name, the American Cockroach is not native to the United States. It was brought here through hundreds of years of shipping cargo and passengers across the oceans from Africa. Are glossy in appearance, usually reddish brown in color Adults range from 2.7 to 4 cm in length and is the largest species of Both male and female have wings that cover entire length of the abdomen Can be found in all 50 states Prefer to eat decaying organic matter Are commonly found in basements, crawl spaces, and any crack or crevice they can find Have been known to carry human diseases such as salmonella and E.Coli Lay their eggs in capsules. Each capsule contains 14-16 eggs, and each female produces 15-90 capsules. Produce about 800 offspring per year
