Central Idea: Moving objects help people Line of Inquiry: Movement, impact of technologies. Guiding Questions: How do things move? How do they help us? Skills: Thinking, self management Learner Profiles: Communicators, knowledgeable Attitudes: Risk taker, commitment.

Key Idea: Children identify a range of concepts for each arts form, explore new arts skills, and experiment with a range of traditional and emerging techniques and technologies. They begin to understand how these can be used to explore ideas and generate solutions to problems within each arts form. Content: Create an art work of a moving object that you know. Experience: 1. Explain that today we will be creating art works showing all of the different moving objects around us. 2. Ask children to think about something that moves and explain that they are going to first draw it in pencil, then outline with black texta, then paint. Stress the importance of making the object take up most of the page so we can see it, and doing their background all one colour. 3. As the children complete the tasks monitor the room for understanding of the instructions and giving praise. 4. Ask children about their moving object and scribe with black texta along the bottom. Assessment: Assess their following of instructions and understanding of a moving object. How does it move? What are its moving parts? Can it move in more than one way? Is it helpful to us? In what way?

Organisation: Set up tables during lunch/quiet time. Materials/Resources: Paper, pencils, tempura paints, black textas., art smocks Space: Classroom Time: 1hr Children/Grouping: Whole class
