6th ANNUAL DISABILITY AWARENESS ART WEEK

CALL FOR ART

Folsom Lake Colleges Disabled Student Services and Programs (DSP&S) has hosted a Disability Awareness Art Week for the past five years, with great success. This year we again will hold a week-long exhibit of artwork produced by students with disabilities. It will transpire during the first week of November, 2013. The event will be held at the Folsom Lake College campus and will spotlight the students artistic achievements. It will feature painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and digital art media. The art week promotes the students self -esteem, pride in their talents, and fosters an awareness of the creative achievements of students with physical, psychological, or learning disabilities. Students with a verified disability who are currently enrolled in any of the four Los Rios college campuses (American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College, and Sacramento City College) are encouraged to submit their artwork. Each student must submit their artwork in digital format. The acceptable format for entries is JPEG (.jpeg) sent by e-mail or burned onto a CD-Rom or DVD. The staff DSP&S staff at Folsom Lake College is available to assist with these submissions and can be contacted at (916) 608-6611. A Community Reception on Thursday November 7th (5:00 pm - 7:30 pm) will recognize the students talents and will showcase their artwork. This event is open to the public. One thousand dollars ($1000) in stipends will be given to the top submissions in the form of: Best of Show, Honorable Mentions, and Harris Awards. These scholarship stipends will be awarded during the reception. We are accepting submissions immediately and will accept artwork until 5pm, October 18th, 2013.
