Systems Technician I

Position Description:
The Systems Technician I is to provide general maintenance and troubleshooting support to ensure high quality service and resolution of campus telecommunications and computer system technical problems. The Systems Technicians primary responsibility is to provide timely PC level support resulting in user satisfaction. The Technician reports to the Network Operations Supervisor.

Essential Functions:

Terminate, splice, troubleshoot, and certify all Ethernet and phone hardware. Install and maintain system telecommunication hardware. Install computers onto network using various networking protocols; set up email and facilitate user network involvement. Troubleshoot computer hardware, software, printing and minor network problems for multiple computer platforms and campus phone system. Manage and maintain print services (slaved and networked). Perform various software and hardware installations on PC and Macintosh computers. Participate in various IT support projects and initiatives as assigned.
