Lime Road 2 Oct 2013

For many years weve known we would get a large housing development on this site, and basically what it would look like. Now that we have the detailed design, my main concern has been to do all I can to get the best deal for current and future residents. When committee deferred this application for more consultation, I sent a notice to every resident for whom I had an email address, and neighbours helped deliver similar notices through the doors of everyone in the roads nearest to the development site. I had a big and heartfelt response. I collected all their concerns and took them directly to Bovis Homes, the developer of this site. Bovis representatives and architects wanted to hear every one of them. They responded with professionalism, making large changes to their plans in order to satisfy current residents in every way that they could. After reducing all buildings to a maximum of three storeys, they moved all 3storey buildings away from existing homes, leaving only 2-storey buildings there, in order to help preserve residents privacy. They removed one pedestrian exit leading from the estate onto the bridle path in response to concerns about security from those living in houses that back up to the bridle path. They reassured us that the bridle path will remain a bridle path, that it wont be tarmacked over or artificially lit. Theyve enhanced the landscape barriers and fencing to help with privacy and security issues in Lime Road and Yarnells Hill. Their drainage plan is designed to provide a better environment than exists currently; no run-off will endanger nearby Raleigh Park or residential streets They have a comprehensive Construction Management Plan designed to keep the construction nuisances on-site and off Lime Road. Im in direct touch with them for anything that comes up. The best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour. Mr Alan Cook, Director of Technical Services for Bovis Homes, has handled every request Ive made of him with courtesy and helpfulness, and I have no reason to expect that will change in the future. I have no objection to committee approving this application so we can get on with it.
