Treasure Hunting: Houdini vFINAL

Overview
Someone has taken Houdini's bones and locked them -inside of chests, then scattered them around the world so that no one can recover his skeleton. You and a group of treasure hunting friends have identified where they are all located. They have also discovered that whoever puts Houdini's skeleton back together will gain the power to unlock any lock in the world. You and your friends have agreed to let whoever can obtain most of Houdini's bones will be entitled to the power.

Goal
The goal of the game is to collect more of Houdini's bones than the other players.

Setup
1. Each player picks one of the randomizers as their tool for the game: 1. Coin The Brute Force Hunter 2. Six-sided die The Average Hunter 3. Ten-sided die The Above Average Hunter 4. Deck of playing cards The Smart Hunter 2. The coin MUST be chosen by a player. 3. No other player can use a tool that another player has. 4. The player that chooses the coin will be going first. 5. The player with the coin will decide which lock card set to use. (Set A or Set B) 6. Shuffle the chosen lock card set and lay them out faced down, separated, on the playing field. Place the other lock card set to the side. 7. Place Houdini's bone cards to the side of the playing field faced up. 8. Player turn order will go clockwise from the player with the coin.

Turn
1. 2. 3. 4. Select any lock card to try to unlock. If it is faced down, then do not flip it over, yet. Use your tool. (See Tools) Flip the card so that it is faced-up if it is not faced up, already. Check to see if the results from using your tool is a success for unlocking the lock by reading the condition corresponding to your tool on the card. 1. If you successfully unlock the lock on the card, then take the card. 2. If you failed to unlock the lock, then put it back in the center and leave it faced up. 5. End your turn.

Tools
Each tool has an 'overdrive'. Overdrives may allow players to ignore a lock card's unlock condition at the cost of a turn. Before using a tool, you should decide if you will do a normal action or use your tool's overdrive.

Coin
Exception: there are certain cards where brute forcing will be impossible. If you chose such card, then you lose your turn. Normal Brute Force The coin is flipped. The result from this tool will be either Heads or Tails. The Brute Forcer readies a powerful kick towards the lock. Overdrive The coin can be flipped 3 times in a row. You must call out which side it will land on before each flip. If you call out the correct side at least 2 times, then the result is an unlock and you can take the lock card. Skip your next turn. The Brute Forcer readies several powerful kicks in succession.

Six-Sided Die
Normal Roll The die is rolled. The result from this tool is the value of the roll. The Average Hunter takes a crack at the lock. Overdrive End your current turn. You may roll your die up to 3 times in the next turn on the card you chose. If any of the rolls is an unlock for the card, then you can take that card and end your turn. The Average Hunter tries to analyze the locks before taking a crack at them.

Ten-Sided Die
Normal Roll The die is rolled. The result from this tool is the value of the roll. The Above-Average Hunter takes a crack at the lock. Overdrive Roll the die 3 times and add up each roll into a total. If the total is less than 20, then the result is an unlock and you can take the card, otherwise it is a fail. Skip your next turn. The Above-Average Hunter falls back to his Brute Forcing habits.

Deck of Playing Cards

Normal Play Draw 3 cards and add them to your hand. The result from this tool is the card you choose to play. Discard your hand. The Smart Hunter carefully thinks about how to approach the lock. Overdrive Return all discarded cards into your deck and shuffle it. Skip your turn. The Smart Hunter reassess his toolkit.

Ending a Round
A round ends when all lock cards are removed from the playing field. The player with the most lock cards can take one of Houdini's bone cards. If there is a tie, then the round is a draw and nobody can take a bone card. A new round will be started if there are still unclaimed bone cards: 1. All players return their tools to the center If there is a card user, then the deck must be reshuffled with all the discarded cards before returning it. 2. Players will then take turns picking a tool. The player to the right of the winner will pick first. Pick order will go clockwise. If the round ended in a tie, then skip to step 3. The coin MUST be picked by a player. If the coin has not been picked and there is only one player left without a tool, that player must pick the coin. Players may pick a tool they have used, before. 3. The player who has the coin will decide which lock card set to play. 4. Shuffle the chosen lock card set and place them faced-down and separated in the playing field. 5. Begin the round with the coin user going first.

Ending the Game

The game ends when all of Houdini's bone cards are in the hands of the players.

Scoring
The player with the most Houdini bone cards wins. If there is a tie, then the game is a draw.
