Warm up: Modified Interval Running 1. 2. 3. Students are to go at the speed dictated by the cones: Yellow Cone = run Red Cone = sprint Blue Cone = walk/jog

Students in 4 groups, one group at each corner of the running area Complete task as a group, all moving together at the same time Students are to work through the inquiry questions relating to the activity
Set up running area Allocate students to groups Alter the running area as required Create discussion at end of activity and CFU Introduce task (but only briefly). REMEMBER student inquiry is the focus! Supervise and facilitate students in their inquiry learning Allow them to explore the activities Create discussion about the various circuit stations, how they differ from each other, what fitness areas are of focus etc.

Circuit: 60secs on/60secs off (rotate) Ladder running: running up the ladder, jog back. Complete as many as possible in allotted time. Speed weave: sprint around the cones as if dodging a player. Weave up, jog back. Complete as many as possible in the allotted time. Mini suicides: run up, touch first line with hand, run back, run to next line, touch with hand, run back etc. Complete as many as possible in the allotted time. Sprint walk backs: sprint to line as fast as possible,

Students in SAME 4 groups as before Students are to work through the circuit activities using the cue cards provided They are to inquiry about how and why the various tasks are to be completed. Why do the activities this way instead of another way? The students are also required to
walk back. Complete as many as possible in the allotted time. Mini Phosphate Recovery Test: 6x 20m sprints on a 30second time cycle 15mins
answer the questions relating to some of the fitness theories behind the activities Students in groups of 3, take turns in completing test (1 runner, 1 time keeper, 1 scribe) Students are to support each other and make not of the varying times Use the times recorded and the individuals physical responses to the activity and work through the inquiry questions. E.g. why did these effects occur? Students return their equipment. Students state what they have learnt from the class and give feedback about lesson. Act as the facilitator, offer feedback and support.

Teacher surveys area making sure it is clean. Lead concluding discussion. What do you think was the focus of today? What did we discover from doing the activities? Did you find working as a group a good way to learn? Positives and negatives from the lesson? Reflect on students ability inquiry about a task, work as a team cooperatively and apply understanding of fitness components to the task.
