NEW DEPARTURE
DIVISION GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
BRISTOL, CONNECTICUTYor many years the New Departure Engineering Departaent has received
requests for engineering information, relating not only to the application
of New Departure ball bearings, but also to problens in other fields
rencte fron that of anti-friction bearings, where the data from our
years of research and laboratory testing could be used to obtain a
solution,
In response to such requests for data relating to stresses and deflections
of solid elastic bodies in pressure contact, a series of mathematical
analyses developed by Mr. A. B, Jones of our Engineoring Department for
use in bearing application work by New Departure engineers has been
arranged in two volumes, one containing the text and the other the
related charts,
Much of this material is original in form and has not heretofore been
published for general use.
This data ie presented in the manner which we have found to be of greatest
value in sclving problems connected with stross-deflection relations.
