Northridge Middle School

What you will learn: In this health and physical education class, you will have the opportunity to participate and learn about a variety of physical activities. You will learn about the rules, etiquette, strategies and skills related to that activity. We are required by the state to administer FITNESS tests at least twice a year so we will be constantly working on health related physical fitness (cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition). Health Units this semester will include: Mental and Emotional Health Personal and Consumer Health RHASE (Reproductive Health and Safety Education)

What you will need: Dress out clothes (shorts or sweat/athletic pants, t-shirt, sneakers) Notebook (1 subject) Pen or pencil Lock for locker Deodorant Water bottle (optional, but encouraged)

RULES AND EXPECTATIONS:


Participate with effort Show respect to both teachers and fellow classmates Display a positive attitude Work cooperatively with peers Follow directions and class policies Use PE equipment for the purpose for which it was intended Strive towards improving overall health and physical fitness NO gum, food, candy or drinks are allowed during PE/Health, including the gym, track, blacktop or locker rooms. WATER BOTTLES ARE ENCOURAGED!!! No horseplay in the gym, locker areas or outside areas

Important information: If you do not dress out, you can still participate with partial credit, but if you do not participate you will lose all points for the day. Students are expected to use the restroom while in the locker area and not activity time. Students have access to lockers, but must provide their own lock. The PE Department is NOT responsible for items lost or stolen. DO NOT bring valuables to PE class (i.e. jewelry, iPods, cell phones, money). The locker room will be locked during class and re-opened when it is time to change again. The locker room is shared by both PE classes as well as Ms. Millers Dance class. Locker rooms should be kept clean. Pick up garbage, flush toilets, and DO NOT write on the lockers or walls. THIS IS EVERYONES RESPONSIBILITY!
