things teachers have to do to create an effective and engaging classroom. I will be discussing a very important strategy teachers must know how to do before bringing their curriculum into the classroom. This strategy is planning. I will be explaining the importance of planning by reflecting on chapters 4, 5, and 6 of the 6th edition of Learning and Teaching and competencies 3, 4, and 8. We must consider the sequential planning process, classroom environments, and using strategies such as prompting when planning for an effective learning classroom. In chapter 4 I learned that planning is a process that is sequential. Teachers must make many conscious decisions about the learning activities that they will bring into their classrooms to help their students learn. The first step in planning is selecting topics. Next, teachers must specify their learning objectives and then prepare and organize learning activities. Lastly, is preparing assessments. I believe that competency 3 and the planning process are very similar because in order to do the things in competency 3 like design, delivery, and assess, teachers must use the planning process that is mentioned in chapter 4. I will definitely take the sequential planning process with me when I enter my educational career to ensure I have an effective learning lessons and activities. The topic that I believe is the most important in chapter 5 is classroom climate. Classrooms with a positive climate helps the children feel emotionally safe, orderly, and focused

Looper 2 of learning. A classroom with a negative climate has an opposite effect with the children, they tend to be disruptive, they are worried about being criticized or ridiculed, and learning isnt emphasized. The competency that complements this topic is competency 8 because creating a positive classroom environment states that teachers should use strategies, such as making a positive classroom climate, to engage students in the learning process. This will be a very important strategy that I will make sure is implemented in my future classroom daily. Competency 4 states, Learning processes and factors that impact student learning. This competency helps stresses the importance of prompting that is discussed in chapter 6. Prompting is very beneficial if used correctly. It can create a climate of support in the classroom, communicate positive expectations for success, and assist students in thinking through and answering specific questions. Prompting is a great way to create a level of higher thinking for the students in your classroom. Prompting will be something I will think about when creating my curriculum. I will add many prompting cues into my lesson plans. Before reading the chapters 4, 5, and 6, and competencies 3, 4, and 8, I was unaware of how much a teacher must consider when planning for an effective classroom. I will try to my hardest to bring all things I learned about planning into my future classroom.
