Focus: Decipher major factors that influence the communities health and more importantly ones own self. Learning Objective/s:

To develop an understanding of the factors affecting a persons Health. To assess my own individual Health and compare it to my class. To make suggestions as to how young people can improve their health.

At Level 5, students proficiently perform complex movement and manipulative skills. They maintain regular participation in moderate to vigorous physical activity and analyse and evaluate their level of involvement in physical activity.

Assessment criteria
Active participation in the activities and discussions taken place in throughout the lesson. Attendance and consistent concentration throughout the class.

Stage 1 Student Arrival/ Introduction 0-10 mins

Tasks
Students to arrive from recess, greet and introduce the class to the students Students need to brainstorm all the factors in their life they think will impact on their Health. Create a Class list on the board.

Teacher Action/ Focus questions


Teacher to have equipment prepared and collected. Introduce lesson and run through the breakdown of the lesson. Pose some general questions to the class to initiate discussion for the class list. What makes you a Healthy person? How can I become Healthier? Does what I eat affect my health? How?

Stage 2 Fill in Blanks Worksheet 10- 30 mins

Fill in Blanks Worksheet Students are to be handed out a worksheet that requires the children to fill in missing words within a sentence about Health. All the words are provided; Children can complete the task with a partner. Following the completion of the sheet teacher to go through the answers with the class and explain any common misconceptions. Explain worksheet, monitor progress as class complete the task and answer any questions asked. When the task is completed select students to read out there answers to the class and check their own answers.

Stage 4 Closure

Sit students down and run through the things learnt throughout the lesson. Allow students time to change and help pack up the activities. Wait until bell before releasing students.
