Essay #3 Traditional Argument Essay We have discussed all the ideas and essential terms behind argument.

Now it is time for you to put those ideas and terms to use to compose your own argument. Write an essay of four-six (4-6) pages where you argue the thesis you have developed through our class activities and your research. Remember that your thesis needs to be narrow enough to be explored in the pages allotted. You dont want something so large that you end up with many short undeveloped ideas in an attempt to cover everything. Development is an important, essential, part of the paper. Your points need to be clear and well-supported. We discussed the various ways that you can support your thesis. As a requirement for this paper you must have a minimum of 4 outside sources as part of the evidence that you use to support your claim (thesis). These sources can include books, journal and newspaper articles, and reliable websites (government, universities, organizations, and news sites). NO internet sites that dont meet the qualifications of reliable. Argue with passion that is backed up by critical thinking and research. Remember to become aware of the opposing side of your claim (counter-argument). Also, keep your audience in mind. Although, I have not specified an audience in this assignment, make sure you are writing this so a general audience will have enough information to understand your point. Argument doesnt need to be dry and boring. As you can see in the essays we have read, the authors have explored various methods to draw in their audiences. Be creative! Watch your emotion and avoid the common fallacies that often tank an argument. Do your best to stretch your writing skills.
