Year 7 HISTORY This subject has six Key Concepts which are closely related and will be developed

through the study units. The Key Concepts are: Chronology, Diversity, Interpretation, Change and Continuity, Cause and Consequence, and Significance. Pupils will develop their understanding of these 6 Key Concepts through developing their skills in 3 Key Processes. The Key Processes are: 1. Historical Enquiry 2. Use of Evidence 3. Organisation and Communication The Study Units in Year 7 are: An introduction to local history focusing on Hounslow Heath, World Domination: The Power of Ancient Empires, Power in the Middle Ages and The History of London (museum project). Britain 1500-1900; Empire: How did Britain become a Great world power? focussing on industrialisation and imperialism. The year concludes with an examination of the question Should Britain be proud or ashamed of her empire? with a close examination of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.
