To Whom It May Concern, I have had the pleasure of knowing Miss Jennifer Sommers since the spring of2013. Jennifer was assigned to my classroom as a teacher candidate in order to fulfill her professional semester requirements from Kutztown University. One of her main goals was to gain knowledge and experience in an actual classroom that serves students with special needs. The students in my classroom are considered part of the low incidence population that is served by the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit. The classroom consists of six multiply disabled students who are non-verbal and physically disabled as well as six instructional assistants, nurses andl or 1:1 aides. Jennifer was a great addition to our classroom. She jumped right into the experience with enthusiasm. She was not afraid to interact with the students and developed a great rapport with all of our staff. Jennifer developed numerous learning centers and curricular lessons that were geared appropriately for my students. She exhibited a kind and gentle manor while easily relating to each individual student's needs. She demonstrated both professionalism and initiative within her 5 week experience. Jennifer is always cheerful and willing to help and her knowledge of special needs is exceptional. Based on my experience with Jennifer, I highly recommend her for any position that she may pursue. Her communication and people skills are excellent and she always seems to come up with innovative ideas. She is very highly motivated to succeed and I foresee her excelling within the profession.
