Executive Talent Movement MOOC Growth Drives Udacity To Strengthen Its Product Engineering Team

Udacity, an online education startup which provides massive open online course (MOOC) recently began offering masters degree in computer science in partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology College of Computing. The company is also creating a sponsored curriculum for training employees. To bolster its product offerings, Udacity has hired three senior executives since June 2013. The company has hired Mr. Nitin Sharma as VP of engineering and data science, Mr. Brent Tworetzky as VP of product management and Mr. Vish Makhijani as COO. Mr. Sharma was the VP, Data Science at Groupon and was responsible for strategic and operational decisions. Mr. Tworetzky was an entrepreneur in residence at Shasta Ventures, early stage venture firm in Silicon Valley. In June, Udacity hired Mr. Vish Makhijani, who was the Board Member, Advisor and Angel Investor at startups such as Twurler, Squla and Pepperdata. Mr. Makhijani was also the SVP and COO of Zynga. Launched in 2012, Udacity currently has more than 400,000 users signed up for its 28 online programs such as web development, game development, mobile web development and software testing. Over 400 companies such as Google, Amazon, Facebook, Bank of America and Bump Technologies have partnered with Udacity for internship and placement programs. Talent Neuron research indicates that about 35 percent (about 7 million students) of the total higher education enrollment opted for at least one online course in US.
