Phillips 2004 How should lesson plans be used in rehearsal?

Lesson plans should be extremely detailed, including the estimated time stamps for each activity. They should be thorough and memorized so you are not attached to it. For me, this means the lesson plan should be written days in advance, so I can memorize the sequence of that days events. Over planning gives you the freedom to then modify the lesson plan in real time if needed. I have experienced being over prepared and under prepared and I have to say over prepared is way better. Us young educators tend to think winging it will work, but it usually ends up crashing and burning or you just end up being awkward with slow transitions. It can be time consuming, but quality lesson planning is definitely worth the time.
