BACKGROUND

Greece received independce from the Ottoman Empire in 1830. In 1974, it was decided to remove the ruling of monarchy, and incorporated parliamentary republic within the government system. Greece was formally known as the Republic of Greece or the Hellenic Republic.

Karolos Papoulias has been in power since March 12, 2005..Throughout his career, Papoulias was a pole champion, apolitical activists, a Member of Parliament, and President of the National Athletics Association. Papoulias has been reelected about eight times, so it will be a total of twenty seven years he has served Greece. Papoulias will be under going his fifth term as President. The country of Greece has been in severe economic crisis, which will the test the leadership of Kapaoulias

The Greek Parliamentary Republic is made up of three branches, which are Executive, Judicial, and Legislative branches. The legal system is brought up from civil legal system based from Roman law. There are forty people who make up the composition of the Cabinet and ministries of the government
