SETTING ALARM FORWARDING TO EXTERNAL SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY FORWARDING ALARMS TO EMAIL/ MOBILE PHONE SUPPRESSING ALARM
ALARM
WHEN AN ALARM IS GENERATED ON THE T2000, IT INDICATES THE T2000 OR AN NE IS MALFUNCTIONING,OR A SERVICE HAS DEGRADED OR FAILED. ALARM TYPE ALARMS ARE CLASSIFIED INTO FAULT ALARMS AND EVENT ALARMS. FAULT ALARMS: CORRESPOND TO SPECIFIC STATUSES OF THE EQUIPMENT. WHEN AN ALARM OCCURS, THE STATUS IS SET TO A VALUE. WHEN THE ALARM RECOVERS, THE STATUS IS SET TO ANOTHER VALUE. USUALLY A FAULT ALARM IS SEVERER THAN AN EVENT ALARM. A FAULT ALARM ALWAYS CONTAINS AN OCCURRENCE VALUE AND A RECOVERY VALUE, WHICH ARE CORRESPONDING TO EACH OTHER. EVENT ALARMS: ACCIDENTAL EVENTS DURING THE OPERATION OF THE EQUIPMENT AND INDICATE THE TRANSIENT STATUS OF THE EQUIPMENT. THE EVENT ALARM OCCURS WITHOUT RECOVERY AS SOME EVENT ALARMS REPEAT PERIODICALLY.
ALARMS ARE CLASSIFIED INTO SIX CATEGORIES BASED ON THE NETWORK MANAGEMENT STANDARD. COMMUNICATION ALARMS: ALARMS RELATED TO NE COMMUNICATION, ECC COMMUNICATION, AND OPTICAL SIGNAL COMMUNICATION. FOR EXAMPLE, LOSS OF NE COMMUNICATION AND LOSS OF SIGNAL. PROCESSING ALARMS: ALARMS RELATED TO SOFTWARE PROCESSING AND ABNORMAL CONDITIONS. FOR EXAMPLE, EQUIPMENT BUS COLLISION AND SECONDARY PATH CHECK FAILURE. EQUIPMENT ALARMS: ALARMS RELATED TO EQUIPMENT HARDWARE. FOR EXAMPLE, LASER FAILURE AND OPTICAL PORT LOOPBACK. SECURITY ALARMS: ALARMS RELATED TO THE SECURITY OF T2000 AND NES. FOR EXAMPLE, AN NE USER IS NOT LOGGED IN.
ALARM SEVERITY ALARM SEVERITY IS USED TO IDENTIFY THE SEVERITY LEVEL, SIGNIFICANCE AND URGENCY OF AN ALARM. ALARMS COME IN THE FOLLOWING FOUR LEVELS IN DESCENDING ORDER OF SEVERITY: CRITICAL, MAJOR, MINOR AND WARNING. CURRENT ALARMS FAULT ALARMS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN RECOVERED OR ACKNOWLEDGED. ALARM LOGS THE T2000 CAN DUMP ALL ALARMS RAISED IN THE EQUIPMENT AND T2000, INCLUDING RECOVERED FAULT ALARMS, UNRECOVERED FAULT ALARMS AND ALL EVENT ALARMS, AND SAVE THEM IN THE LOG FILE.
AUTOMATICALLY FORWARDING ALARMS TO EMAIL AUTOMATICALLY FORWARDING ALARM TO MOBILE PHONE FAULT > SET ALARM NOTIFICATION FROM THE MAIN MENU. IN THE SET ALARM NOTIFICATION WINDOW, CLICK CREATE TO ADD A NEW ALARM NOTIFICATION. SET THE COMMUNICATION MODE TO EMAIL/SHORT MESSAGE AND SPECIFY AN EMAIL ADDRESS IN THE COMMUNICATION NUMBER/EMAIL ADDRESS. SET THE PARAMETERS SUCH AS USER NAME, SEND DURATION AND SWITCH ONE BY ONE.
SUPPRESSING ALARM
THE FEATURE OF ALARM SUPPRESSION ENABLES THE T2000 NOT TO MONITOR THE ALARM EVENTS THAT ARE SET TO BE SUPPRESSED. THESE ALARM EVENTS CAN BE GENERATED FROM THE NETWORK WIDE EQUIPMENT, A PARTICULAR NE, BOARD, TRAIL OR EVEN A PARTICULAR FUNCTIONAL MODULE OF A BOARD. SUPPRESSING SPECIFIED NM ALARMS SUPPRESSING SPECIFIED NE ALARMS SUPPRESSING ALARMS OF A SPECIFIED BOARD/PORT CHOOSE FAULT > ALARM ATTRIBUTES SETTINGS FROM THE MAIN MENU. CLICK THE NM ALARM ATTRIBUTES TAB.MODIFY THE STATUS OF THE NM ALARM TO BE SUPPRESSED. CLICK APPLY. THE OPERATION RESULT DIALOG BOX IS DISPLAYED.
RIGHT-CLICK THE NE WHERE THE BOARD RESIDES. CHOOSE NE EXPLORER FROM THE SHORTCUT MENU.IN THE NE EXPLORER, SELECT A BOARD, CHOOSE ALARM > ALARM SUPPRESSION FROM THE FUNCTION TREE. SELECT A PORT FROM THE MONITORED OBJECT DROP-DOWN LIST ON THE RIGHT-HAND PANE.SET THE STATUS OF THE ALARMS THAT NEED TO BE SUPPRESSED TO SUPPRESSED AND CLICK APPLY.
FAULT MANAGEMENT
THE EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM SUPPORT FAULT MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS. THEEQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT FUNCTION WITHIN THE NETWORK ELEMENT PERFORM A PERSISTENCY CHECK ON THE FAULT-CAUSE, BEFORE IT DECLARES A FAULT CAUSING FAILURE. EACH FAILURE AND CLEARANCE, THEREOF, SHALL BE TIME-STAMPED.THE SYSTEM SHALL SUPPORT THE ALARM HISTORY. FURTHER, THE ELEMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM SUPPORT THEFOLLOWING: PATH ALARM NOTIFICATION TO BE GENERATED AND RECORDED, THE ALARM NOTIFICATION SHALL INCLUDE: TYPE, OCCURRENCE, SEVERITY, PROBABLE CAUSE AND CLEARING. SELECT THE MOST POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE FAULT ACCORDING TO THE ACTUAL SITUATION. IF YOU CANNOT DECIDE WHICH CAUSE IS THE MOST POSSIBLE, THEN SELECT THE FIRST CAUSE.
CLICK NEXT. THE WIZARD DISPLAYS THE CORRESPONDING DIAGNOSIS METHOD. FOLLOW THE DIAGNOSIS METHOD TO LOCATE THE FAULT. IF SUCCESSFUL, CLICK NEXT TO REMOVE THE FAULT BY FOLLOWING THE SUGGESTIONS IN THE HANDLING METHOD.IF FAULT LOCATION FAILS, CLICK BACK TO RE-SELECT A CAUSE UNTIL YOU LOCATE THE FAULT SUCCESSFULLY OR YOU HAVE TRIED ALL THE CAUSES.

THE LOG INFORMATION IN DATABASES IS STORED IN TEXT FORMAT. THE DUMPED OBJECTS ARE VARIOUS TYPES OF LOGS, INCLUDING ALARM EVENTS, ABNORMAL EVENTS, OPERATION LOGS AND DIFFERENT TYPES OF PERFORMANCE EVENTS. THE T2000 PROVIDES THREE METHODS OF DUMPING LOGS. OVERFLOW DUMP SCHEDULED DUMP IMMEDIATE DUMP THE OVERFLOW DUMP IS PERFORMED WHEN THE LOGS IN THE DATABASES REACH THE MAXIMUM STORAGE CAPACITY. YOU CAN SPECIFY THE NUMBER OF LOGS TO DUMP.
THE SCHEDULED DUMP, WHICH IS THE ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF OVERFLOW DUMP, IS OPTIONAL.
THE IMMEDIATE DUMP IS ALSO REFERRED TO AS MANUAL DUMP. THIS METHOD IS USED TO DUMP DATA THAT WAS CREATED ON A SPECIFIC DATE.
BACKUP
BACK UP IS THE METHOD USED TO STORE IMPORTANT DATA TO PREVENT THE DAMAGE OF THE ORIGINAL DATA. YOU CAN BACK UP NETWORK CONFIGURATION DATA, ALARM DATA AND PERFORMANCE DATA. THE T2000 PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING SCHEMES TO BACKUP THE DATABASE: BACKUP OF THE MO DATA BACKUP OF THE T2000 DATABASES BACKUP OF THE DATA BY USING SCRIPTS IN THE CASE OF THE DATA BEING DAMAGED, YOU CAN RESTORE THE DATA. TO RESTORE THE DAMAGED DATA, YOU CAN RESTORE THE DATABASES FROM THE BACK UP FILES AND OVERWRITE THE EXISTING DATABASE FILES.

CHOOSE SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION > NM DATABASE MANAGEMENT > DUMP TO FILES FROM THE MAIN MENU.CLICK THE DUMPING CONDITION TAB. IN THE LOG TYPE PANE, SELECT ALARM EVENT.IN THE DUMP TO (PATH) AREA, SET DUMP TO (PATH). CLICK THE INSTANT DUMP TAB. IN THE INSTANT DUMP CONDITIONS AREA, SELECT ALARM EVENT FROM THE LOG TYPE DROP-DOWN LIST AND SET THE DEADLINE.
BACKING UP AND RESTORING T2000 DATABASES BACKING UP AND RESTORING THE T2000 MO DATA IMPORTING AND EXPORTING SCRIPTS
T2000 CONSIST OF , FIVE DATABASES WHICH ARE AUTOMATICALLY CREATED DURING INSTALLATION . THE FIVE DATABASES CONSIST OF THE T2000 DATABASE AND ARE AS FOLLOWS: The T2000DB STORES THE CORE DATA IN THE SERVER, INCLUDING ALL THE MO DATA AND STATIC DATA. The iMapAlarmDB STORES THE ALARM DATA, INCLUDING THE CURRENT AND HISTORY DATA. The iMapTopoDB STORES THE TOPOLOGY DATA IN THE T2000 CLIENT. The iMapLogDB STORES THE OPERATION LOGS. The iMapSecurityDB STORES THE SECURITY DATA. WHEN YOU BACK UP THE T2000 MO DATA, THE DATABASE TABLES IN THE MO STRUCTURE ARE COPIED TO THE OPERATING SYSTEM FILE BY USING THE HUAWEI-COMPILED SCRIPT. THE INFORMATION THAT IS BACKEDUP BY WAY OF MO BACKUP AND THAT IS BACKED UP BY WAY OF T2000 DATABASE BACKUP IS THE SAME.THE INFORMATION CONTAINS THE USER-DEFINED DATA AT THE T2000 SIDE, NETWORK LAYER TRAIL DATA, NE SIDE CONFIGURATION DATA, ALARM DATA AND PERFORMANCE DATA. HOWEVER, THE MO BACKUP INCLUDESTHE DATA IN THE TABLES,
WHEN YOU UPGRADE THE T2000, YOU CAN UPGRADE THE CONFIGURATION DATA WITH ZERO DATA LOSS BY IMPORTING AND EXPORTING THE SCRIPTS. SCRIPT FILES THAT CONTAIN ARE THE BASIC DATA ARE REQUIRED FOR IMPORTING AND EXPORTING SCRIPTS

CLICK CREATE FILE DIRECTORY TO CREATE A DIRECTORY WHERE THE EXPORTED SCRIPT FILES ARE TO BE SAVED. SELECT A DIRECTORY AND CLICK APPLY. IN THE CONFIRM DIALOG BOX, CLICK OK.
CHOOSE SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION > SCHEDULE TASK MANAGEMENT FROM THE MAIN MENU.CLICK NEW, AND THE TASK CREATION WIZARD DIALOG BOX IS DISPLAYED. THE OTU LOOPBACK INCLUDES THE OPTICAL INTERFACE LOOPBACK AND THE CROSS-CONNECT LOOPBACK. THE OPTICAL INTERFACE LOOPBACK CAN BE SET TO AN OUTLOOP OR AN INLOOP. OUTLOOP: THE RECEIVED SIGNAL AT THE LOCAL END IS LOOPBACKED TO ITS TRANSMIT PORT DIRECTLY WITHOUT ITS SIGNAL STRUCTURE CHANGED. AN OUTLOOP IS USED TO TEST THE OPTICAL LINE AND THE CONNECTOR.
INLOOP: THE PROCESSED SIGNAL IS TRANSMITTED FROM THE TRANSMIT PORT AT THE LOCAL END AND THEN LOOPBACKED TO THE RECEIVE PORT STILL AT THE LOCAL END. AN INLOOP IS USED TO TEST THE SIGNAL PROCESSING ON THE BOARD.

RESETTING BOARDS
RESET IS A PROTECTION SCHEME FOR APPLICATIONS AND DATA FILES ON EQUIPMENT. WHEN A BOARD IS NOT RUNNING PROPERLY, YOU CAN RESET THE BOARD SO THAT IT RETURNS TO THE NORMAL STATE. RESET INCLUDES WARM RESET AND COLD RESET. COLD RESET TAKES MORE TIME THAN WARM RESET. AFTER A BOARD IS RESET, THE DATA ON THE BOARD WILL NOT BE LOST, BUT THE RESET MAY INTERRUPT THE SERVICE. ON THE T2000 YOU CAN WARM RESET OR COLD RESET A BOARD. WARM RESET RESTORES THE APPLICATIONS AND DATA TO THE NORMAL STATE BEFORE WARM RESETTING.WARM RESET USUALLY DOES NOT AFFECT THE RUNNING SERVICES. COLD RESET RESTORES THE APPLICATIONS AND DATA TO THE NORMAL STATE BEFORE CPU POWER FAILURE. COLD RESET USUALLY AFFECTS THE RUNNING SERVICES.
YOU CAN RESET A NON-SCC BOARD IN THE FOLLOWING TWO WAYS: WARM OR COLD RESET THE BOARD THROUGH THE T2000. COLD RESET THE BOARD BY PLUGGING IT.
