__ __ __ __ __ when shooting in manual mode; these three variables
affect exposure.
2. Explain what is means to have good exposure.

3. Label the three variables.
4. For each variable, list what they are measured in (i.e. each f-stop
our camera has etc.).
5. Explain what set backs or effects each variable has.
6. Diagram where good exposure is located with a circle.

7. Diagram the four f-stops our camera has

8. Fill in the missing shutter speeds

1/15,

9. Draw an exposure meter or light meter, if the meter is not

receiving a good amount of light.

10. Draw an exposure meter or light meter, if the meter is receiving

too much light.

11. Draw an exposure meter or light meter, if the meter is receiving

the ideal amount of light.

(12-14) Read the following scenarios carefully and tell me what

adjustments you would make to you camera settings to get a good
exposure

F stop- 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8

Your ISO is 200, and a good meter reading is 1/125 @ f5.6
At the following shutter speeds, what is the f-stop for an equivalent
exposure? Explain how you achieve your answer.

15. Your camera is set at 200 ISO film. Your camera has shutter speeds
from 1 /15 to 1/1000 of a sec. Your lens has f-stops from F2.8 to F8. The
correct exposure for the scene you are photographing is 1/125th of a
second at F2.8.
What will the equivalent exposure be at F8? __/_ _
16. What is the slowest shutter speed you can definitely hand hold the
camera at?
17. For the maximum depth of field on a handheld shot, what would be
your f-stop? F____

18. Explain how you got your answer to (17)

X 10?
a. f-stop 8
b. 72 resolution
c. 300 resolution
d. 1600 ISO
20. What shutter speed would you use to stop or freeze action?
21. Explain why this should work to freeze the action.

You are at a family members dance rehearsal, and you have been asked to
take some photos. Your camera is set at ISO 100. You were asked to not use
flash. The cameras exposure meter is saying not enough light at setting f-2.8,
and 1/30. What changes would you make to your settings and why?

__1/15 (This is possible if you use a tripod or want a blurry

photograph)__ c. What shutter speed would you use if the subject was
moving and you wanted to "stop action? __1/1000_ d. What would be the
proper f-stop at this new shutter speed? __F2___

4. You are using ISO 100 film at a concert and your proper exposure
reading is F2 at 1/15 of a second. You do not have a tripod, but you have
a roll of 400 ISO film with your. You are using a 135 mm lens.
a. What will be the proper shutter speed at F2 using the 400 ISO film?
__1/60___ b. Will you be able to make a sharp hand-holdable shot with the
400 ISO film? _No __ c. Describe below what your options are in this photographic situation.
for a 135mm lens you should be at
1/250th if possible. You can brace yourself, you can push the film, you can
buy the program and enjoy the concert ;-) or you can buy a digital camera
that will let you shoot at a faster ISO!

1.

Take a series of photos of the same subject in the same light conditions
by varying the setting for ISO speed.

2.

Set a camera on a tripod and frame a subject that has depth. Set the ISO
to a low setting, such as 64 or 100. Take a series of photos with the
camera set to shutter priority and taking an image with the shutter
speed at 1 second, 1/15, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1,000 (or whatever
range your camera allows).

3.

Repeat with camera set to aperture priority and changing the aperture
(f-stop) from 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22, 32 (or whatever range your camera
allows).
