Initial Plan
Staff:

The business our group decided to put together was a bake sale. We decided to sale cookies to the students and faculty of Anderson University.

Creative Director: Sara Carter Marketing Director: Jessica Herndon Distributor: Rachael Truitt CFO: Brittany Buster

We decided this would be a good idea because cookies are usually a popular treat of choice for people. In a previous bake sale one of the members ran, cookies were the most popular choice. Our group also decided it would give the students a quick snack between meals.

Business Strategy/Marketing Mix

Product: Chocolate Chip Cookies and Snicker Doodle Cookies Pricing: 3/$1 or $.50 Each Place: Reardon Auditorium before and after chapel, then all around campus Advertisement: Stall Talk, Chapel Announcements, and Word of Mouth After we decided on a business, we put together our marketing strategy. We placed our advertisement in the AU Stall Talk and in the Chapel Announcements. Word of mouth was also a useful tool for advertising our business. We set ourselves apart from the competition by advertising the unique purpose of our bake sale. This was evident in our group name, Chapel Cookies for Children, and the advertisement of where the profits would go to. We decided that having this bake sale for the charity Autism Speaks would make us unique from the other groups because this was not something we had seen other groups advertise to do in their $25 business challenge.

Operational Plan

We decided to bake all of the cookies off site at Brittany Busters home. This made things easier because while the cookies were baking we were able to put together any materials needed for the day of the bake sale. There were quite a few details to consider: who baked the goods, who handled advertisements, where and how we would advertise, when we would meet, what day and time to have the bake sale, who would handle operations, who would handle finances, and preparation of donation to the chosen charity. We also had to keep in constant contact with one another to make sure every group member was on the same page or answer any immediate questions. The primary issue that we had to overcome was a contingency plan when not all of the cookies sold at chapel. We decided to then take the cookies and sell them around campus before, during, and after classes the rest of the day.

Who was responsible for which task?

Sara Carter came up with the ingenious idea to sell cookies. She helped in designing the PowerPoint and wardrobe. Jessica Herndon was responsible for advertising and promoting our business through Buzz marketing. Rachael Truitt was responsible for the contingency plan and going around campus to distribute cookies to freshmen girls in need of some sugar! Brittany Buster was the chief financial officer as well as the pastry chef. She kept track of revenue and expenses for the group.
