The Great Expedition of the FRIED CHICKEN!!

By Jenell Copeland, Justin Depina and Sarita Jugistir

Fried Chicken, Sweet Potato fries and fruit juice

Biomolecules that come from this food

Carbohydrates:Carbs come from the sweet potato fries. The orange juice also contains carbs but a special form of carbs called glucose. The chicken also has because they are fried in flour and flour is a starch also known as a protein. Carbs are important because they give quick and long lasting energy.

Proteins:The Proteins come from the chicken. This biomolecule is important because it is a building block for muscle and tissue.

Lipids:Lipid comes also come from the chicken because it has been fried in unsaturated fats also known as oil. These lipids are important because they help store energy and helps support body functions.

What each of the Bio-Molecules are broken down to and what enzymes does this
Carbs are broken down to polysaccharides and simple sugars. Proteins are broken into other proteins and enzymes. Lipids are broken down UN/saturated fats and steroids.
The amylase enzyme which is in the mouth helps break down the sweet potato fries and the orange juice because they are both starch which are carbs. The enzymes protease which is found in the pancreas, Pepsin which is found in the stomach and Bile which is in the liver helps break down the fried chicken which is protein. Then the nutrients from the food is broken down and absorbed into the body thanks the small intestine. Then the large intestine carries the food that couldn't be broken down to the anus and it is let out.

Mouth
The function of the mouth is to start the manual digestion of the food that you intake. The mouth contains an enzyme known as amylase which breaks down the starches that are in the food.

Esophagus
The esophagus transport the food from the mouth that was broken down by the enzymes in your saliva and transports it to the stomach.

Stomach
The function of the stomach is to chemically digest the food that has first been manually digested in the mouth. Within the stomach there is an enzyme called Pepsin. Pepsin helps the breakdown of proteins in the food that was ingested.

Small Intestine
The function of the small intestine is to absorb the nutrients of the broken down food and sends it throughout the body.

Large Intestine
The function of the large intestine is to bring the undigested food to the anus to be released.

Pancreas
The function of the pancreas is to help break down food with specials fluids. The fluids that help do this are enzymes called Protease which helps break down protein and Lipase which increases the breakdown of fats.

Liver
The function of the liver is to break down and prepare fats for further digestion and absorption in the small intestine. The liver secretly produces bile. Bile is a bitter, yellow-green fluid that is released when fats enter the first part of the small intestine. The liver uses the bile to also break down protein
