I believe in Equality because I have been bullied. Throughout Middle school I had been bullied about my size.

The worst incident that happened was in 6th grade at the bus stop. I was walking up the street to the bus stop and waiting for me was a kid named Roderick. Roderick had always had something to say to me about being short, he liked to call me midget. That day at the bus stop something was different. He had his friend named Aaron with him. The teasing was worse with the two of them calling me names and how I looked different than them. I was tired of being made fun of by them and I stood up for myself, and told them to leave me alone they laughed and threw me in a trashcan. That made me feel inferior to them and sad mostly. The thing that bothered me was I could not understand why he did that? Why did he not treat me like his friend? Why did he not treat me equally? I believe in equality. My parents raised me to believe that all people are created equal regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, culture or values. I have been taught to believe that everyone has an equal opportunity to be successful in this world. They should have an equal chance at having a home or going to college and having careers. I have learned to appreciate other peoples cultures, beliefs, and individuality. Equality is an on going learning process and people have to learn to treat people equally. Throughout history people have fought for equality and to this day this battle continues. Equality does not exist throughout the world. There is gender and race inequality, class and socioeconomic inequality, education inequality, and many others.

As the future progresses I hope that all people can be treated equally and at least given a chance at having the job they desire, the education they deserve, the relationships they want, and the goals they hope to achieve. I believe that I have learned to set a good example of what equality means and that going forward I can help equality continue to spread.
