This piece of legislature outlawed discrimination as seen in the document. I recommend this source because it is very helpful for my topic. "Civil Rights Act of 1991." The purpose of this act was to strengthen the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This source helped me to determine the flaws of the original Civil Rights Act. I recommend this source. This case dealt with age discrimination and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This source was useful to me and I would recommend it. "John F. This primary video source is the first part of President John F. Kennedys speech to the nation explaining the need of the Civil Rights Act. Kennedys nation wide speech addressing the Civil Rights Act, which was not passed at the time. I used this video throughout researching my topic. I recommend this source.

This primary source is a newspaper article about the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It contains quotes from politicians at the time along with information about the public reaction to the new legislature. I used this source when researching public opinion on the act. This primary source is a recording of the speech given by President Johnson after he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In the speech, Johnson outlines the reasons that the act was necessary along with addressing the nations opinions and concerns. I strongly recommend this source. Wallace, George. This primary source is the speech given by George Wallace sharing his thoughts on the new piece of legislature. I used this source when researching the leaders of the Civil Rights movement along with the leaders of racial discrimination. I recommend this source. Will, George F. This primary source is an article about the effect of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 on the general public. Will states that it is a cause of disagreement in the US. I used this source to gain knowledge about the background of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Cobb, James C.. The Brown Decision, Jim Crow, and Southern Identity. Athens: University of Georgia Press, 2005. This secondary book source was very useful to me. It outlines the history of racial problems in America, including information about famous court cases. It also talks about the effect of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 on the Civil Rights movement. I recommend this source. It discusses the recent provision to the act regarding ministerial exception. This source was very interesting but it did not contain helpful information about my topic. Hasday, Judy L.. I

used it when looking at information about the Civil Rights movement and the effect that resulted from the legislature. I suggest this source for research pertaining to my topic. Karr, Justin. I used it when researching the effect that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had on the movement along with specific information regarding Title VII. I recommend this source. Menand, Louis. This article contains a plethora of information regarding the Civil Rights movement: from popular books about the movement, to Martin Luther King Jr., to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Business Source Elite, EBSCOhost (accessed September 8, 2013). This article from EBSCO contains good information about Title VII and its effect in the workplaces. This secondary book source contained a lot of information related to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Due to the fact that the act outlawed discrimination, this book had a lot of information about the effect of the act and background information about discrimination. I recommend this source because it is very useful. Zacharias, Gary. Freedom of Religion. Detroit: Greenhaven Press, 2005. This secondary book source contains information regarding religion in America. It was very helpful to me because the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protected religious discrimination in the workplace and this source has many details on the effect of the act, which was useful for my topic.
