Rani Laxmibai is a symbol of patriotism and self respect to women.


She was born on November 19, 1835 in Varanasi (UP).
She was the daughter of Shri Moropant Tambe and Bhagirathi Bai.
She was named Manikarnika and was nicknamed by Manu.
The Rani lost her mother at the age of four.
She learned horseback riding, sword fighting, and shooting with a gun.
She was married to the Maharaja of Jhansi, Raja Gangadhar Rao, in
1842, and afterwards called Laxmibai.
8) She gave birth to a boy named Damodar Rao in 1851, but when he was
four months old he died.
9) The Raja adopted a child called Damodar Rao.
10) The British had rejected to treat Damodar as the legal heir to the throne,
and war broke out between Jhansi and the British.
11) The Rani did not surrender, the battle continued for two weeks and at the
age of 23, Rani lost her life on June 18, 1858.
