Breast Health Care Access Program

Free mammograms and follow-up breast care for thousands of women sine 1993. Brigham and Womens Faulkner Hospitals Breast Health Care Access Program is for uninsured or underinsured women over the age of 40. Patients accepted into the program will receive all screening treatment and follow-up care at no cost. Program partners include: Anesthesia Associates of Massachusetts Brigham and Womens Department of Pathology Brigham and Womens Department of Radiology Faulkner Breast Centre Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre

Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in women and is the most common cancer among American women after skin cancer. Today, about one in eight women or 12 percent will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2012, about 226,870 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and about 39,510 will die from breast cancer.
