Objectives for sec 1 orientation 2014


For the Secondary Ones: To provide a good and welcoming start to their Secondary school life To familiarise with the school environment and voice out their concerns To create bonds among the new Sec 1s and to build a sense of belonging to Chestnut Drive Secondary School To create an unforgettable experience in Chestnut Drive Secondary School

Objectives for sec 1 orientation 2014


For the Student Councillors: To gain or improve in the understanding towards one another and towards the sec 1s in terms of the individuals background, needs and characters. To take responsibility for the groups safety, logistics and other events that happens within the group. To speak more confidently in front of peers and to articulate any instructions effectively. To gain leadership experience that would be applicable to any other student council activities.

Presentation of the programme


Highlight the following activities: Ice breakers? Water activities? Cheers or any other design competition? Mass activity? Any new activity? Take note of the following: 1. Duration of the activity 2. Logistics involved 3. Safety concerns 4. Manpower deployment 5. Timekeeper?

Drafting the sec 1 orientation 2014 (edit from 2013)


The various departments shall take turns to present your proposals to the SCTs. While the different groups present, 3 appointed moderators are to discuss with the rest of the SC whether or not to include the groups planned changes. Chermaine & Reyhan: To conduct the discussion Rachel: Make changes to the 2013 version to create a draft for the sec 1 orientation 2014 programme

Divide yourselves into different groups (Preparation

committee) to focus on different activities Write the proposal for your activities, focusing on: 1. Venue 2. Aim / Objective of the activity 3. Descriptions of the activity 4. Instructions for facilitators 5. Logistics 6. Budget 7. Safety concerns 8. Additional notes

What to expect?
SCTs shall read through your proposal for the activities and provide feedback in the form of comments / questions

Role allocations
So every student has 2 roles: Preparation and Organising committees: 1) preparing for orientation and 2) during orientation itself. (E.g. I am in charge of organising water games, and I am also facilitator for group 4)

Whats next ..
Before dry run in end Dec: Student leaders to submit detailed activity action plans and logistics lists. Student leaders to report with logistics during orientation preparation day camp (26 DEC 2013) Note that student leaders may return on 4 Jan, Sat for a dry run of Monday 6 Jan's programme if necessary.
