PHASES OF INFRASTRUCTURE
PHYTOREMEDIATION PROCESS (stage II) (approx 2-3 weeks) 3) water rises and irrigates into plants in box structures 4) plants evaporate contaminated gas into air and sun rays breaks down pollutants into harmless gases such as methane and carbon dioxide

during phase one of the beacon harbor development the floating boxes will be filled with phytoaccumulators. the industries up stream are continuously polluting the water and the entire soil bed of the site is filled with fly ash from surrounding industry. the plants can filter up to one gallon of water per day and the mussels living on the gabions can filter up to 30 gallons of water per day.

Phytoaccumulators will continue to grow and be sold to industries around the area. willow planted boxes will be harvested to be used for biofuel in a nearby energy production industry. willow produced from willow boxes will create up to 74 giga joules.

phytoaccumulator growth and mussels and seaweed will begin growing on the gabion habitat

PHASES OF INFRASTRUCTURE
PHYTOREMEDIATION PROCESS (stage I) (1-2 weeks depending on rainfall amount) 1) rainwater collects along walkways of infrastructure, thus picking up select chemicals and debris as well as dredge materials and contaminated fly ash soil 2) polluted water drains off infrastructure into Hudson River and various bacteria break down through gabion structure

boxes will be held in place by steel poles that will facilitate the rising of the boxes with the tide. on the poles significant flood levels can be marked after each event to educate the public on the significance of each flood. TCE

excavated land will be used to fill the planted boxes and surrounding edge rip rap will be used to fill the gabions. phytoaccumulators will be planted in boxes to begin cleaning.

after the phytoremediators have cleaned a significant amount of the water and soil the boxes in the channels will be replanted with willow than can be harvested for biofuel production. the boxes along the river edge and the redirected creek will be planted with more phytoremediation plants that can be sold to surrounding industries to help clean around other areas as well.

ADDITIONAL MARKET FUTURE USERS (2060+) helping plants continue phytoremediate using slight volunteer workforce system

Albany is the most polluted site out of the three sites. Due to its extremity our plan for the life of the project is to filter out the contaminants. Normans kill creek would be redirected to control flooding and provide more surface area to remove contaminants. The soil will be used from the site that is contaminated with fly ash and other compounds to use in the planting boxes that could filter 40,000 gallons of water per day. There will be mussels on the gabions that can filter 360,000,000 gallons of water per day. The site is not meant to encourage hands on public interaction, but would be visible to boaters passing by.
UPLAND: seldom or never inudated TERRACE: rarely inundated SHORELINE FRINGE: permanent moisture zone, periodically inundated SHALLOW WATER FRINGE: 0-2in deep, fluctuating water, regularly inundated SHALLOW WATER POOL: 2-18in deep, fluctuating water
