For our project we will need to weld, work with electronics, and use various power tools.

We will need to start our project by cutting sheet metal into the separate pieces. We will need to assemble the motor and all of the interior pieces. Next we will have to prototype the control panel and all of the electronics that go into it. Next we will have to test and make sure that it works as intended. After that, we will finish and make our final prototype. Mr. Ron Walsh from NASA provided us with some feedback. 1) Have you created a list of requirements for this device, to allow your design to then be evaluated

to determine how well it meets each of those requirements? Such as: a. b. c. d. e. Food capacity of the reservoir in quarts Food capacity of the food bowl What type and size animals is it intended for? How much floor space will this product require? Will it be available in one universal size, or will you consider having it potentially available in

multiple sizes? f. g. Does it dispense only dried food, or does it also dispense wet food? The maximum size of food particles that can be dispensed, i.e. could it dispense large dog bone

biscuits? h. Type of power required for the electric motor (type and number of batteries, or intended only for

household 120v power) i. Does it have to operate outdoors and be exposed to rain and snow, or is it intended only for

indoor use? j. Cost of materials and cost of labor to fabricate

k. 2)

Expected number of months or years of operational life Have you created a brief concept of operation to describe how the product would be used,

including how to: a. b. Load food into the reservoir Dispense food into the food bowl (i.e. is it automatic release to keep the food bowl always full, or a

timed release to control the amount of food available each day, or a manually initiated release by the pet owner) c. d. 3) Clean the device. Replace batteries, if battery operated. What are the features and benefits of this product that might make it a more desirable dispenser

to use than others that are currently available in pet stores and on the Internet? 4) What are the dimensions of your product, since you concept sketch did not have any dimensions

on it? 5) 6) 7) What materials will you use for the product and have you generated a Bill of Materials? Will there be a cover to protect the food stored in the reservoir? What were the alternative design concepts you rejected when you selected this design, and did

you do a design trade study to compare those alternative designs?

8)

Did you do any market research to determine what similar products are available in the

marketplace and at what price?

We will need to use multisim to prototype the electronics of this project. We will need to use inventor to prototype our design. Other than that no software will be required. We will need to use a sheet metal cutter, welder, drill and other power tools.
