    Genes assist in the maintenance of health as DNA repair genes ensure that cells are functioning healthily, the 2 genes that regulate this cycle are the Protooncogenes that produce proteins that stimulate division, and tumor suppressor genes that produce proteins that stop division. These together help in the maintenance of cells that results in the maintenance of health. 2008 Mitosis replaces cells that are damaged, which assists in the maintenance of health.
