Stage 2 EVIDENCE

A. Pre/post-Assessments - The students are taking a 34 question assessment on basic musicianship. They are to identify basic music notation, basic musical terms, solfege hand symbols, and audio chords and scales. They will listen, analyze and evaluate a performance. They will take this assessment before and after the 6 lessons to assess the effectiveness of my teaching. Formative Assessments/Evidence -Follow along WHITE board activities, write answers on whiteboard, match hand signals, quiz each other on musical notation and terms, sing and sign solfege, identify chords and scales, participate in class discussions and write evaluations of performed musical pieces. Summative Assessments/Evidence - The students are taking a 34 question assessment on basic musicianship. They are to identify basic music notation, basic musical terms, solfege hand symbols, and audio chords and scales. They will listen, analyze and evaluate a performance. OTHER EVIDENCE: Students will show they have achieved Stage 1 goals by
Completing in class multiple choice lesson quizzes. Turning in written evidence of critical music listening. Mini group time to evaluate and correct Solfege hand signs. Taking a posttest to confirm evidence of learning.

Stage 3 LEARNING PLAN


Lesson 1- Students will know what is involved and required to be musicians and how it affects them as performers. (Students will review pretest results. They will write a one paragraph evaluation on their pretest results.) Lesson 2- Students will understand basic music notation. (Students will do a WHITE board activity then use flashcards in mini groups to identify basic music notations. Students will take a 5 question quiz on basic music notation.) Lesson 3- Students will understand basic key and time signatures. (Students will do a WHITE board activity then use flashcards in mini groups to identify basic key and time. Students will take a 5 question quiz on basic key and time signatures.) Lesson 4- Students will understand audiation and what Solfege is and how they are used in learning to sing. (We will do an interval activity where I use Solfege Hand Signs and students sing the correct interval.) Lesson 5- Students will be able to demonstrate basic ear training skills. (I will play scales and chords on the piano and students will notate what scales and chords are being played.) Lesson 6- Students will listen, evaluate and analyze a music performance. (We will discuss the performance. Students will write a one paragraph evaluation using musical vocabulary to describe the performance.
