In addition to checking their weekly assignments to make sure they are neat, complete, and timely !, make sure that your child reads for 30 minutes a night and completes their Reading Log. Your parent signature is very important to this process. Students should read self-selected chapter books. Take a quick moment to ask your child to share what they have read a few nights a week. Ask a question and have them show you text evidence to prove their verbal response. This will definitely go a long way toward reinforcing what is done in the classroom. Please check their assignments to make sure they are neat, complete, and timely !. Purchase a zip drive that can be put on a key ring, etc.so that your child can work on the publishing step in the writers process at home. As the year progresses, ask if they could share a bit more to make their writing clearer. Check to see if a bit of dialogue can be added to make their story more interesting.
