Design the given truss.

Fig 21 Truss

Fig 22 Sections Where, Members 3, 4, 5 & 6 has the L section as shown in the above figure. Members 1, 2 & 7 has the T section with the following dimension. Load, F = 500 Kn X = 2.5 m H = 1.5 m 1. Create a new job. 2. Set the code as Eurocode 3. DEPHT = 0.15 m TW = 0.01 m BF = 0.1 m TF = 0.01 m

3. 4. 5. 6.

Set the units as Meter and Kilo newton. Define the element type as 2D Spar Link 1. Define the material as EC3 > FE 430. Define the following cross sections. a. Hot rolled > L Angles > European L EQ > L 90 x 90 x 9 b. Steel by Dimension

Fig 23 T Shape 7. Define the diagonal members as follows (Civil Preprocesser > Member Properties)

8. Define the horizontal members as follows.

Fig 25 Horizontal Members 9. Create two beam properties with the above created cross sections and member properties. 10. Define the grid. a. Workplane > WP Settings i. Grid and Triad ii. Snap increment = 0.25 iii. Spacing = 0.5 iv. Minimum = -0.5 v. Minimum = 0.5 11. Create nodes on the working plane (Main Menu: Preprocessor > Create > Nodes > On Working Plane). Node # 1 2 3 4 5 X 0 2.5 5 1.25 3.75 Y 0 0 0 -1.5 -1.5

Main Menu: Preprocessor > Create > Elements > Auto Numbered > Thru Nodes 14. Activate the T Section. 15. Create the horizontal members (1 2; 2 3; 5- 4) 16. Turn off the grid. And check the creation by assigning numbers.
